i am feeling depressed.

on my way home i saw a dude throw a sick crow on the ground and then throw a rock at it. some women in like their twenties in nice clothes made him stop ("it's dead already! it's suffering!" he said) and then they called the spca on the telephone. they were supposed to wait around with the crow but i did it instead. it couldn't fly but i didn't see anything broken. one time it flipped over, flapped its wings for a while and stopped, and i put it upright again. it was holding one of its claws like, straight down.

then the spca ninja came and took the crow and decided it was sick of a bird disease ("pox") and would probably die, but anyway he put it in a towel in a cage and said he was taking it to "the vet".

also there was an orange-and-white cat around there for like three hours and it is meowy. that was on barclay street and somewhere.

but i was already feeling depressed.

masamage it is saturday, what's your story!

To do before school starts.

Buy textbooks (MATH 427, MATH 320, PHYS 107, and CHEM 121)
Get U-Pass and find out whether it is green
Make extra bookshelf space for notebooks and things
Read textbooks
Buy lab crap? (lab notebooks, special yellow lab manual)
Figure out the PHYS 107 lab
Ask Dr. Adem if I can attend

Andy, thank you for the advice about how to deal with the waitlisted laboratory.

Here are my other professors! I kind of considered them secondary because they are not teaching high-level math courses but probably I will really like these courses too.

MATH 320, Malabika Pramanik
Umm~ maybe this picture? It's from 2001.
PHYS 107, Erich Vogt
Liquor glass in hand, Vogt retorted: "You can turn the university into a Marxist seminary if you want."

Erich Vogt is a local legend, but in a good way. He has taught this course for some time. But don't take my word for it, here is a picture of him.

He was also the founding director of TRIUMF.

CHEM 121, ???
Evidently it's a surprise.

Sophia Nussbaum is teaching my lab section. The course will be using a "mixed-mode" arrangement (real labs together with a "virtual lab"), some of the development of which was funded "by the Academic Committee on the Creative Uses of Learning Technology (ACCULT)". This acronym is presumably from "acculturate," but it looks like a portmanteau of "occult" and "a cult".

I guess this course uses clickers. (I think these are surrogate clickboxes? I wonder if the instructor will be surterranean. That would be weird.)
