Citizens! As the day grows longer, and the night grows shorter, we must face the possibility of spring. We must be ready. For when it comes, like the red sun that will rise one day over the snow-sheltered treetops, like the wave large out of all reason, there is no question that we must throw every atomic particle of our effort against its coming to pass. However inevitable it may seem, however close it looms, we must win, and we shall win; and otherwise there is no possibility for humanity, none at all.

We will not ever lower our flag. That day will not come. The sun is not our enemy; but it is the element that has constantly lurked at the centre of this conflict, always, always, mindless in its rage, without any sign of understanding. It has become abundantly clear, over the years and years we have waited - for this is no sudden, quick-burning flash of anger, as we all know well - that the sun has no intention of deviating from its course, and has never had any such intention. We have been given no choice in our response.

What, then, can anyone say? (And we may ask them why they had not said it before, when we still remained charitable to those who would soothe and numb us?) A long time, a long hour in history, has passed. And now the clock is struck, and the hands turn - onward! Not backward. Not for me; nor for anyone. Alea jacta est. The die is cast.
