This week:
- I got Dummit and Foote for $25

- I am reading some Galois theory.
- Since a lot of people did badly on the midterm, Professor Slade is setting aside some time for anyone who would like to to present a worked problem, e. g. a problem from Grimmett and Stirzaker. Obviously the intention is for people to raise their marks, but I kind of wanted to present something :D it sounded like fun! I was thinking about talking on the subject of this. Actually I was thinking about going to Kinko's and printing out a gigantic glossy poster of it.
- I spent an hour on Friday coming up with a schedule of courses assuming I skip things that I know already, so I am going to show that to the Department of Mathematics Undergraduate Chair this Monday (it won't be a total surprise, he's already talked to me) and we'll see whether it's okay and also if my estimate of what I know is any good.
- I would like a very small computer that runs Debian for Christmas.
